Back From Ashes is seeking a top notch professional drummer. The band is currently pitching to record labels and has many unique opportunities in the works. We will be recording an EP in January of 08 with producer Ryan Green (MXPX, Megadeth). The band is also working with Dan Roland of Rebel Entertainment and will be featured on his reality show Tour Qwest – Rebel In The Links which will be airing on Fox Sports. "From Arizona comes Back From Ashes and their debut Broken, a solid metal platter that is well executed and produced. Tunes like "Welcome to Me", 'Father Fiction", and "Tightrope" all contain tons of melody to go along with their metalcore fury. There's nothing bad with any of these songs, and "Goodbye" even has hit potential, while "Vicarious" is just heavy and technical enough to appeal to the prog-metal crowd."

"Back From Ashes is an Arizona based metal act that pleasantly surprised this writer, and the reasons why may surprise some of you. When I visited their myspace, I noticed that their influences were from a lot of nu-metal acts that I also enjoy. There seems to be a lot of Mudvayne influence here with touches of both Tool and Slayer, ALL of which come out to equal winnage in my eyes. Hell, even my 1 year old likes them, and as I type this he is banging his head to "Tightrope".
The album was self produced by the band themselves and is absolutely crystal clear and 100% professional-sounding. Recorded at Villain Recording in Phoenix, Arizona, "Broken" is a record that you can get into quickly, in about 3-4 spins of the disc. There's no over-the-top technicality here, just a good solid chunky guitar tone with clean tones for the mellower aspects. Mike Butikofer is a solid guitarist for this style of music, even if there is a lack of guitar solos here. Drummer Dave Yaccarino seems to have sprouted from the same talent-tree, as his playing is not too flashy, but it incorporates a lot of fluidity and a good spectrum of dynamics. There's some good kickdrum action and a lot of toms and cymbals, and all can be heard perfectly. Layne's bass is always able to be heard and carries its own rhythms most of the time, separate from the guitars. I REALLY like that, plus this guy's not afraid to get a little funky from time to time and slap the bass around like a red-headed step child when need be. Singer Jason Hobel is an interesting aspect to the band, I didn't know if I would enjoy his styling's or not when I first listened to opener "Welcome To Me" (yeah, goofy title....), but this guy has a pretty good scream/yell and clean vocals that I ACTUALLY LIKE. At times he sounds like Cristian Machado from Ill Nino on his cleans, yet can also channel Lou Koller of Sick Of It All in his bellows. Throw in a touch of Burton C. Bell and that guy from Mudvayne and there ya go.
Tracks on this disc are catchy, and "Tightrope" is probably one of the most blatant examples of this. It is such a good song, melodically speaking, and you can't help but notice that it sounds just a tad like Mudvayne....ok, ok, a lot like Mudvayne. There is a neat distinction here as well, as a chant is thrown in there, kind of reminiscent of some of System Of A Down's vocal chants. "Father Fiction" is about the all-time popular topic of priest molestations, and includes some cool samples of news reports towards the end of the track to enforce the seriousness of this topic. "Better Off Dead" is a nice heavy track that begins with a guttural bellow from Jason Hobel. It should be noted that (for those not keen on grunts and growls) there is no overkill here of that kind of vocal form. I believe I noticed it maybe 6 or 7 times on here, and only when appropriate, like with the beginning of "Better Off Dead". "Vicarious" has a marching rhythm that keeps the listener tied into the chorus, although some may not appreciate this style of clean vocals featured here. A big nod to Burton from Fear Factory on this one.....
As a whole I think this album is great. If you're just a fan of bands like Ill Nino, Fear Factory, Slipknot, etc...you'll dig on these guys. I found the cd truly satisfactory and catchy.

The Shows:
Back From Ashes consistently sells out their venues in Phoenix. The crowd is stunned by talent and professionalism as soon as the set begins. By the third or forth song in the set, every person in the venue is a fan of Back From Ashes. These guys are not only able to draw a crowd, they are musician's musicians as well.
The Work Ethic:
Back From Ashes gets major attention for their dedication to their music. During a feature interview, Slam Magazine "was blown away" by their set in the rehearsal room. The rehearsal studio houses a full-on performance each and every time the door is opened. It's not to say there is no fun allowed, but it is clear by watching a performance at a venue that these guys mean business.
Members:
Jason - Jason's vocals are mesmerizing. His cleans are very melodic, while his screams are loud and tribal...and that's where he reveals his soul and his talent. Compile this innate ability to toggle between the deliveries with the lyrics and you will go on a roller coaster ride with him as he explores the true meaning of the writings.
Mike - Mike is so creative with an axe, he leaves you wanting a 5 minute solo. With a heavy influence from the classic 70s and 80s guitar gods, Mike strikes a chord (no pun intended) with the metal purist, while appealing heavily to the progressive crowd.
Layne – Layne is an amazing bassist. His hands fly through the set with uncanny timing and well-thought-out bass interjections that make the listeners go "wow!" His ability to keep time with Dave on the drums is the anchor for this four-man wrecking crew.
The Video:
BFA's first video is for "Father Fiction". The video was directed and shot by Freddy Allen of Fallen Film. This video is without a doubt the most amazing video out of any unsigned band in the scene. The video not only shows the true potential BFA has but also their level of commitment to making it in this unforgiving industry. It takes a band willing to spend every penny they have and a willingness to stop at nothing to be the best.

My name is NO-NO LOOX, and I'm looking for a solid drummer for my band Drag-Strip-Hookers. If you're a m/f drummer living or relocating to NYC and want to play in a dirty balls out PUNK/GLAM/METAL band and really want to do something this may be for you! I'm looking for someone with solid beats and DBL BASS is a plus! But not the most important thing. You should be someone who really wants to do something, and willing to work hard to get there. I want to rehears at least 3x's a week and what ever we can do after that. You should be someone that wants to put on an eciting kind of show. I'm going to great lengths to develope this thing and it's gonna be a lot of fun and real wild! A MOTLEY CRUE show compressed down to a smaller stage. 21+ please, and if you're in your 30's that's fine. Just have some of you looks left. But if not this band requires a ton of makeup. So it may not matter if you look like a fucking pitbull or not. I'm looking for people with a good attitude and easy to work with. But I may be asking a lot now.lol. I have a record in production and it's almost done. (I don't wait around for much.) I'd like to get that stuff down and get going on new songs/recordings and start playing out.
